Theresa Andersson’s Video
It’s not often that I go to YouTube and see a new video of someone whom I both recognize and am happy to see. This fun treat by Theresa Andersson showed up randomly on the YouTube home page as one of the most viewed music videos on the whole site (you go girl!).
Theresa Andersson has a new record coming out the first week of September, 2008, and I am assuming this tune, “Na Na Na,” will be on it. She recorded it in her kitchen, or so I read, and she plays all of the instruments on it except for a couple of duets with Allan Toussaint and Ane Brun.
Looks like Theresa has some new foot pedals - she plays the dulcimer, drums, guitar, violin and sings like a morning bird all at once. Reminds me of Keller Williams, but much prettier.
The cool thing about Theresa’s music to me is that it is ever changing and constantly growing. There was the funky R&B that used to be on every Wednesday nights at the Red Eye, and before that there were many years of playing folky violin in places like Benny’s and the Neutral Ground. She plays classical pieces, and even did a Christmas record with John Fohl and David Doucet called “Peace Stories.” Now she is a favorite every year for thousands of fans at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. This video shows her pop side - she looks like she is having fun!
