About
Y’Heard.com was started by two brothers who grew up in Uptown New Orleans (14th Ward Rulers!) who have spent more time and money supporting New Orleans music and club owners than just about anyone. From all sides of the stage we have sung, we have listened, and we have been shaped by the sounds and rhythms and lifestyle of the City that Care Forgot, the Birthplace of American Popular Music.
Both of us have lived away from New Orleans at various points in our adult lives. We have seen what New Orleans is and what the rest of the country is, and we hope to use that knowledge to communicate with all people on the World Wide Web.
This website is meant to be for everyone who has ever let their bodies loose to the funky rhythm on the one, anticipated by the four. It is meant for everyone who has watched the sunrise come up while not having gone home yet. It is meant to teach the young what they do not know and the old to remember. And mostly it is for the musicians themselves, that their craft and the joy that they bring to the city and to the rest of the world will continue and live on.
We will have reviews of shows, reviews of recordings, features about different parts of the city’s music and heritage, and a wide assortment of creative non-fiction. We welcome all of you to suggest a story idea for either you or for us to write, and we especialy encourage musicians to use us as a vehicle while they are on the road or playing around town to tell something more about themselves and their thoughts on being a musician.
Enjoy! Enjoy! Enjoy! Y’Heard!
